Being a Southerner

It's weird, this idea of being southern. I was born in Austell, Georgia so in theory I should be just as southern as they come. However, I don't identify with the "southern lifestyle". I do enjoy southern foods and sweet tea is my kryptonite. But in regards to the idea that I should like country music, and dress a certain way, and enjoy all sorts of other "southern pastimes" I am not southern. Perhaps it is the Redneck lifestyle I am rejecting. I in no means have a problem with people who enjoy those things previously mentioned.

I do however love college football, good southern cooking, and the predominantly Christian worldview. It's helpful to have that common idea of the world in one area (While it can restrict exposure to different views, it can create good, necessary community)
