"Please Hold"

As society begins to emphasize the individual more and more, man has started viewing himself as an individual dependent on himself rather than on God. Individualism emphasizes being independent of others, and others now includes God. Some consider it a weakness to depend on someone greater than themselves, and this has somewhat eliminated God from many lives today. Society itself has become more accepting of people's opinions or beliefs, as it has pushed for this individualism. This has made rejecting religion easier as man knows he will most likely not be criticized among his peers. In the past, society was heavily based on God, and if you had a differing opinion religiously or otherwise, you were taken out for heresy or shunned among your peers. Because for so long society squashed individualism, man is now running around getting a feel for it, much like the prodigal son. He may eventually return to God, but for now, God is apparently "on hold" for many in the world.
