The poem conveys a feeling that Papa is fun, but works outside a lot. The writer respects their Papa but understand how reckless he can be sometimes. The mother is more responsible and doesn't approve of the waltz; after all, breaking things can be expensive.
I disagree I think he is an abusive drunk.

ReplyDeleteI think you are right Nathan. I want to think Papa was a good man, but as all do, falls short of that sometimes.

ReplyDeleteVery good summary of the poem Nathan! I think we are supposed to fear Papa tho, but at the same time he can be really fun waltzing around with his son.
