Chirp chirp

When I think of birds, I think of the Andy Griffith show episode where Opie kills a song bird with his sling shot. The idea of killing a crow is easy to palate and is done often. However, the killing of a song bird of any kind is strictly forbidden. They are of a more delicate form than crows or sparrows, and therefore should be taken care of by us humans. In the poem Bluebird, the bird likely represents the dreams or soft side of a man. He is burdened by life and shuts out that side of him through smoking and drinking. He wants it to come out, but fears the judgment of others if it were to. He keeps it to himself and lets it out at night so as to not forget about it.
