The Birds and the Bees
In the second poem the author talks of a Blue Bird that wants to get out but he refuses to let it come out except for when no else is around at night. To me it seems like the man is hiding his true self from the world. He talks of how he uses all these things to hide himself away from the world, things like alcohol and smoking. I imagine this man hides himself from the world because he is afraid of what the world will say about him. He also sounds afraid that if he were to show his true self then his book would not sell well at all. This man is like so many others in the world, always afraid to show their true selves. These people are afraid of being laughed at and ridiculed for who they really are and they need to be like a bird and live their lives free without any care so that they can be who they really are and not just some person the world likes.
