Teddy bear talks
Ted talks generally take very complex matters and make them understandable. They are always well presented and understandable regardless of the topic. This presentation style will be good for my presentation because it will require prior knowledge. Just like TED talks, I will simplify matters and make them entertaining through humor.
Ted Talks
In Every TED Talk that I have ever seen have been very engaging, been funny, informative, and over always interesting.
TED Talk
1. be engaging and try to make a laugh to keep entertaining.
2. have stories that many people can feel from and have experienced maybe.
3. be passionate about what you are speaking about.

This morning i woke up it was pretty normal coffee is weird so i don't drink it and nothing else tastes good so i ate some lucky charms. Then went on my way to work. Work is pretty boring so i just go with the flow and keep working. The lady who works at the front desk said she saw a guy on a bike hit a trash can and flip over it because he wasn't paying attention and on his phone. sounds like the guy deserved it in a way and was his fault. after work i decided to walk home instead of taking the bus. i saw these group of people more girls then guys they seemed pretty alright except for the fact that they were loud that just got annoying. when i got home the water wasnt working it was pretty annoying so i just decided to sleep instead of fix it.
TED Talking
1. Most of the TED talks are anecdotal. They involve a lot of stories, whether about the speakers life or the lives of others they know.
2. They are usually abstract concepts. They don't each you the fundamental theories of calculus, they teach you about the importances of introversion. It's less quantifiable and more conversational.
3. Despite being about abstract ideas, they all seem very academic. They interject statistics and studies that back up their assertions. It's not just random people rambling about ideas in their head; it's still well thought out and structured.

TED talkers
1. The speaker uses a hook
2. The speaker is well-versed in the subject.
3. The speaker uses stories and jokes to enforce their point but also engage the audience.
I can make my presentation engaging but informative by knowing my subject material well and playing to my audience to engage them.

C.S Lewis's reasons why.. (late)
Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art... It has no survival value; rather it is one of those things that give value to survival.
When I read this quote I was instantly reminded of a new Netflix series called 13 Reasons Why. In this show a girl named Hannah Baker commits suicide and leaves 13 tapes of all the reasons she killed herself. She faced every issue someone could face in high school and all she needed to survive was for just one person to love her. If just one person had cared she wouldn't have died. She didn't need friendship to survive but her life had no value without it. Being an extremely extroverted person I believe friendship is necessary. People die of loneliness so maybe friendship does have survival value. Some of the darkest moments in my life were the times I felt no one cared. Even if friendship isn't necessary it sure makes life a lot more bearable and for some people it does save their life. Sometimes all it takes is one person to make survival more valuable.

Hypocrisy at its finest. (late)
I'm a hypocrite. You're a hypocrite. We are all hypocrites. Maybe not all the time but at least sometimes. As a Christian it is impossible not to be a hypocrite because we know sin is wrong yet we still do it. I was in a church service and the pastor said that one woman told him she wouldnt go to church because all the people there were hypocrites. He said, "Thats the reason they're at church because they know they sin. They know they're hypocrites and they know they need God." They go to church so they can become less of a hypocrite. Being a teenager in Forsyth county it is insanely difficult not to be a hypocrite. Christians have a bad reputation. Some Christians go to church and act one way and then go to a party and act like a completely different person. A lot of Christians get mad at people who act like this and don't want them to come to church. But I think those are the exact people that need to be there. We all make mistakes, we all sin, and we all need God. Next time you catch yourself calling someone a hypocrite take a look in the mirror at your own sin. Think about the way God wants you to treat that person and how they may be going through more than you think.
A day in the life of an Existentialist (Late)
Last night I had a nightmare. In the dream I died. Right when I died in my dream I woke up. I cant help but wonder why, in that moment, I woke up. Then I came to the realization that I woke up because I don't know what happens next. I went on with my day. Today was my birthday. I didn't care to do anything and I don't know why birthdays are celebrated anyway. My friends believe otherwise and insisted we celebrate. We went to the fair, rode rides, and ate junk food. I began to enjoy myself and actually had some fun. As we were riding the swirl machine, it was as if time stood still for a second. I had this lingering thought in my brain that none of this matters.
Ted talks
During the Ted talks the speaker always does an incredible job of keeping the audiences attention. They use a powerful hook to draw the listener in and then they drive home their point by supporting it with facts and statistics. They present you with a problem you never knew you had and convince you that it truly is a problem. Then they make the audience think. They keep their attention by relating it back to each audience member. Then they provide a simple and practical solution to the problem. They all have incredible speaking skills and pause for laughter. They are very funny but still serious. It is the perfect balance. They stay grounded and do not sway back and forth. They keep their hands in a central position. Words like um and uh are never used.
TEDist Talk
TED Talks is both funny and tells a story. New things can be learned from each video you watch. The speaker always has a good joke.
The TED Talk
In all of the videos I've seen so far, each person speaking seems to be very passionate about what they are speaking on. They've all had extensive knowledge on the subject they're talking about and they have all spoken very clearly and concisely so that they weren't having to repeat themselves over and over to prove a point.
I want to be able to speak clearly and concisely so that i don't end up repeating myself over and over because my project all centers around one idea that is very important for biking. I also know that I am passionate about biking because I have been doing it all my life so that should also help me out in my presentation.

The TED Talks Trifecta
Based on what I’ve seen so far, all of the TED talks seen to
have these three things in common:
1. The presenter is always informed about the subject they
are presenting on
2. The presenter engages the audience and captures their interest.
3. The presenter includes humorous phrases.
Because of the amount of research required for my senior
presentation, I should be fairly knowable in the subject I’m presenting.
However, a quick review to make sure I can talk intelligibly about my subject
would be helpful. I can also engage the audience more in my presentation by showing
my interest in the subject or adding questions to my presentation. The humor
part will most likely be skipped, however. This is because, at least to me,
humor is a very hard thing to do correctly. A funny joke will make your presentation
better, but if no one thinks it’s funny, then it’s just awkward.
Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah
These TED talks are all very engaging for the most part and I would attribute this to three main characteristics that I have noticed, stories/anecdotes, humor, and thought provoking facts. Each of these characteristics makes the speaker seem more interesting. The stories that I have noticed in each of these three TED talks have all been personal experiences and cause people to be more interested by the topic. The humor brings the listener some joy and keeps them from becoming bored by the speakers topic. Thought provoking facts are in my opinion the most important part of TED talks because they cause people to think about what they are hearing and often help them respond more positively to the call to action that is often given at the end of each presentation.
Ted Talk 101
In all the ted
talks they each have an interesting topic that they enjoy talking about. They use
either ethos, pathos, or logos to persuade you. Ethos refers to ethics, pathos
appeals to the emotions, and logos appeal to reason and logic. Ted talks are short
but they get their point across. They also have a couple funny moments or interesting
stories in between that relate to the topic to keep the listener listening. I
definitely want all of these in my presentation. I have first-hand knowledge on
what it is like in foster care so I feel that I will be able to tell a lot of
facts and stories. Foster care is a great topic and I hope I can explain well
to everyone!!
too much talk
I've noticed in all the Ted talks that the person is really excited about the topic. They are very informed and prepared. They also do not stumble or pause during their speech. They seem to have a few funny moments thrown in there. But, they continue with their train of thought/speech. They use a lot of solid examples and facts in their presentation to get their point across.
I definitely want to do all these things in my presentation on the CDC/Public Health. Sometimes I tend to trip up after one point or slide, because my mouth is running faster than my brain. I feel like I have a lot of great information as far as the topics I want to touch on. I think the struggle for me will be to take all the information I have, concise it, but also get my point across and be informative. I think the one thing I take away from the example with TED talks is to keep fluidity in your presentation. Public health is a great topic, and I hope to do it justice in my presentation!

Dear Diary (a la Camus)
I drove home from class in the rain two Tuesdays ago. It was about 9:30 in the evening. I had checked the weather application on my phone more than thrice, and it said it wouldn't rain. But it did. I don't normally trust the weather application.
As I drove, I noticed a car on the side of the road about 200 feet ahead of me. Its lights were flashing. I hate flashing lights, so I squinted my eyes a little. But I was curious to know why the car was on the side of the road, so I continued looking. When I came to the stop light, I saw there was a person outside of the car waving his hands and shouting something. I couldn't hear hime because my windows were up and it was raining. He was facing me, so I looked around me to see if anyone else was behind me. There weren't any other cars on the road around me. He kept waving and shouting. I decided to stop looking at him because I was tired and wanted to go home. I didn't want him to ask me for help.
When I got home, I put the car in park and took the keys out of the ignition. I opened the car door, but it was rainy and cold, so I closed it again and stayed inside the car. I closed my eyes so I could listen to the rain. It sounded nice on the car roof, so I decided to stay for a while. I put my hand on the cool window beside me...
My phone rang, so I looked at it. It was my sister. I didn't answer because I was trying to listen to the rain and didn't want to talk. The ringing was high and annoying, and I wanted it to stop, so I turned my phone off. After the phone stopped ringing I think I fell asleep because I only remember waking up the next morning to my stomach growling.

Hi, I'm Indigo, and I think I'm a squirrel...
Our day and age is a crazy time that has us walking on egg shells not to offend anyone, or else to be called [insert anything here]-ist or [anything else]-phobic. We are all entitled to believe whatever we want and to voice that opinion as long as we are not offending some minority. And frankly, "minority" has become a fairly eclectic term. Anywho, in the case that we are offending a minority, we are very likely to be chastised. However, if I were to pronounce myself a squirrel, I imagine I would be judged to a reasonable degree (at least one hopes). But I would probably also be encouraged by society (especially that society of social media) to embrace my squirrelly self and join the minority group of other rodent-people (I am sure that's a thing). Even though this example is pretty absurd, it carries some truth. It represents the fact that society is now generally willing to accept any outspoken or outstanding minority for the sake of "spreading the love around" or standing up for the "little guys" or whatnot. But when it comes to such a majority as Christianity, not many people truly care whether or or not those Christians are being offended. Therefore, Christianity has become much less of an appealing thing in society, especially to those who aren't Christians. Many more people are now willing (and even eager) to denounce Christianity and are praised for it. It has become a fad to deny religious affiliation. However, many years ago this was not the case. Christianity was more widely socially-acceptable and attractive to "outsiders." Thus, many people who did not actually understand Christianity or what it meant to have a relationship with Jesus declared themselves "Christian" simply to conform comfortably or avoid judgement. Whatever the reason for this so-called religiousness, many people are now finding that this is no longer the case. Today, one would be more likely to face criticism as a religious person than as an ambiguous person. Ambiguity now provides a sense of comfort and security. Thus, hypocrisy–or being a "Christian" (but not really)–is not so necessary. But, like all fads, I believe this will fade (into something hopefully not so squirrelly)...
I'm Only Visiting this Planet! (latest)
"If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world."
I would really like to say that I feel this way all of the time, but I don't. I think my soul always desires God, and I think that the souls of every believer always desire God, but so many times I get so caught up in this world we live in, that I don't think about the beauty of the Lord. I think about what will happen tomorrow, where I may go to college, what I'll eat five minutes from now (seriously!).
I truly and deeply believe that nothing could satisfy my soul more than to be right where He is! Of course, it's what we were created for! But even in the times we don't feel that way, it's so encouraging to know our souls were made to be satisfied by God. Because, to tell the truth, we tend to seek satisfaction in things that just can't fill us up. For example, I seek satisfaction in my achievements, like earning good grades, receiving college acceptances, and getting certain roles in shows. But at the end of the day, I'm still longing for something more... Something has just yet to be fulfilled, and I find that my time with God is actually what I wanted and needed so desperately. That time to humble myself and sit in His presence is and always will be fulfilling. And sometimes, I don't get a great grade, I get rejected from my "dream school," and I am in the ensemble... It happens. Even if I've worked my booty off! Life will disappoint us, probably more often than we would like to believe. But God will not.
We were made for joy... to be satisfied by God. Earthly things can never quite fill our spirits with what we need to live lives of JOY. Spending time with God SO DOES. He planted in us a desire that this world cannot satisfy. He whispers an invitation to us to draw near to Him. To humble ourselves and seek His overwhelming presence.

Refrigerators n Pickles
I opened the refrigerator to get pickles. I hate pickles. My neighbor was over and said he wanted some, so i went and got them for him. I once saw him curb stomp a man's face to the ground, but that didn't bother me. He said thanks for the pickles, then proceeded to give me a story on when he was first accepted into his current gang: The Blood Stalkers. It was a long story with a plethora of felonies, but I wasn't listening. I cut my thumb days ago and fiddled with the scab. I chewed gum and stared at the wall after that. He finished his story and said the pickles were yummy. Pickles are not yumy. I got up, walked ten feet and ended up in front of the fridge. I put the pickles back in then went to bed.

Life is Meaningless
I woke up this morning well after my alarm went off. I rolled over and went back to bed anyway because I was tired. Then I remembered I had AP Literature class this morning. I was late. I don't think anyone cared though.
I drove home and made a sandwich because I was hungry. It was good but my dog begged the entire time I ate and it was annoying. Then I procrastinated for a long time because I didn't want to do any homework.
I don't want to do any homework, so I might just not do it. I am tired anyway so I think I will just go to bed. I am also hungry so I will go get food then go to bed.

get in loser, we're going shopping
I went to the store just a few yards from the post office. Strange location really.
The ring from the bell is really loud when I open the door. Too loud. It almost frightened me.
There was a big woman behind the desk that welcomed me in with a shrill. Her was very curly and red. The clothing items filled the entire shop. There was barely any room to walk. It made me uncomfortable.
There was pink, fluffy jacket. I went to it. It was really soft, but had an odd smell.
I don't like shopping. I am starting to feel claustrophobic.
The bell rang again. It is still ringing in my ears.

The Walk
I went for a walk today. It was mild outside, and smelled like fish. I don't like fish. I saw a woman pushing her child on the pavement. She was going so slow. I passed her. My feet began to hurt so I went home. I decided I wanted a smoke and lit a cigarette. The smoke got rid of the fish smell. I was hungry, so I fried some eggs and ate them for dinner. Then I went to bed, hearing my neighbor's wimpering dog.
Waking up for work.
I awoke this morning to the sound of my alarm at 5:45 a.m. I didn't want to get up so I pressed snooze and rolled over. Nine minutes later that same annoying tone roused me and I knew I had to get up. After getting ready in the bathroom I walked down the hall to the kitchen. As I walked passed the window I noticed it was a rather bright morning. This made me unhappy, because then I would have a tougher time falling asleep on my ride to work. After eating only a small spoonful of peanut butter my ride to work arrived. My co-worker Tim was always a few minutes early which annoyed me because we get to work an hour early everyday anyway. Once we got to work we slept in the car for nearly an hour before I heard my alarm go off for a third time signalling we needed to clock in and start our very tedious work of building cardboard shipping boxes.
Average
I woke up early this morning because it was cold. I wasn't feeling well so I didn't eat breakfast. It was raining outside. I didn't really mind the rain. It sounded nice. It also means I don't have to water the plants.
Work!!!
I had
just gotten to work, and I was early. I decided to go ahead and clock in. After
I clocked in I went into the play center. It was as loud as usual. I went in
said ‘hi’ to everyone and put my stuff away in the cabinet. I went to go play
with the little kids. They were as hyper as any 1/2-year-old would be. I sang
some songs with the kids and danced around with them. I didn’t know most of the
songs or dances. I stopped singing and dancing and decided to read a story to
them.one of the kids went to choose a book off the book shelf. Of course, the
longest one we have. I got halfway through and all the kids I was reading to
were now gone. Finally, it was time to leave. I got in my car and drove home. When
I got home I made my lunch and went to go watch a show.
